Owning Art Made Easy...

The Scottish Collection on CultureLabel.com
Scottish galleries present contemporary artwork that will be available to buy through Own Art on new portal
Turner Prize winner Jeremy Deller’s acclaimed print depicting Stonehenge (pictured above) is among the work from world leading and emerging artists set to reach a wider audience thanks to The Scottish Collection, which is new on CultureLabel.com.
The Scottish Collection is a partnership between Creative Scotland and CultureLabel, an online retail platform which brings together selected international art and design featuring original and limited edition contemporary artwork.
A curated selection of 10 works each from a diverse range of organisations across Scotland, means almost 200 works will be available online through The Scottish Collection. The collection will be refreshed on a regular basis.

Most of the work in The Scottish Collection will be available to purchase through the Own Art scheme, which is designed to make it easy and affordable to own high quality contemporary art by giving customers the opportunity to spread the payment of the work over 10 months interest free.

Participating organisations include Edinburgh PrintMakers, Dundee Contemporary Arts, The Fruitmarket Gallery, Glasgow Print Studio, Project Ability, Artpistol, The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts (RGI), and Glasgow International – at which Jeremy Deller’s depiction of Stonehenge was one of the highlights in 2012.

Work from internationally acclaimed contemporary artists Martin Boyce, Harland Miller, Callum Innes, Alasdair Gray, Elizabeth Blackadder and Rachel Whiteread is presented along with pieces from emerging talent including Martin Sloss, Patrizio Belcampo, Katie Rowlands and Martin McBride.

Among the works selected for CultureLabel by RGI curator Lynne MacKenzie are drawings by Robin Leishman who is artist in residence with the Black Watch, and paintings by Highland based artists Erlend and Pamela Tait which are currently being exhibited in Germany.

Artpistol Director Ali Smith said: “We are a relatively new online gallery and taking part in The Scottish Collection is another reason for customers to talk to us, as well as helping sales and encouraging artists to bring their latest works to us.”

Peter Tullin, Co-Founder CultureLabel said: "We are privileged to be hosting such an acclaimed collection of artwork from some of Scotland's most progressive art galleries and making it available to a wider audience. We look forward to championing and selling these works to art buyers and collectors all over the world."

Laura Mackenzie-Stuart, Acting Director of Creative Development at Creative Scotland said: “If the idea of owning an original artwork appeals but it’s not been practical because of cost, then I’d encourage checking out The Scottish Collection on CultureLabel. The fantastic range of work available would be a great addition to any home or workplace. This new collection is also a boost for the Scottish Galleries taking part, providing a new way in which they reach potential customers.”

Buying using Own Art helps to support artists and the creative economy by boosting art and craft sales as well as encouraging first-time buyers and adventurous buying.
The Scottish Collection is the latest art collection to launch on CultureLabel, with collections from New York and London galleries already featuring on the site.
