The River Runs Through It (Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow, Nov 12-Jan 31)

The tension mounts...

Yesterday, I spoke to George Wyllie's daughter, Louise, and we are hopefully going to display a piece by George, whose reaction when he heard about the exhibition was: 'Thank goodness someone has recognised the importance of The River.'

If you look closely at Alasdair Wallace's piece (above) you will see George's trademark Question Mark hovering with the birds. There is also a wee Paper Boat on the river.

Riverside Flock by Alasdair Wallace
(my colleague at Homes & Interiors Scotland saw the connection to the late Abigail McLellan instantly when she saw this even though she didn't know that Ali is Abby's husband. They both use acrylic paint and there is a similarity in the way in which Ali paints the background. I LOVE this piece and if I win the lottery, I'll buy in a flash!)

Riverside Construction by Charles Jamieson (Pleased to say that Charlie's painting is the main image which you'll see in the posters)
